Construction management of the restoration of St. Peter’s Basilica located on Assembly Street in Downtown Columbia, South Carolina. Renovations to the interior was due to water damage to the floors, plaster and paint. The project included plaster walls being repaired and repainting portions of the interior. 17 years ago, Columbia born Christen Thee, originally painting the 225-foot decorative band of design around the walls of the church, known as a frieze and a vibrant pattern in the dome of the church approximately, 20 feet in diameter.
The dome is based upon the image of the Scandinavian tree of life and inspiration Thee found during his travels to a church in Norway. For this artist painting, Thee replicated the design onto a canvas-like vinyl, which was then attached to the ceiling. This project is currently in design and is anticipated to be completed at the end of the Summer of 2018.
